Buchen - Bookmarks2026.04

Buchen (pronounced like bookin’) is a simple bookmark manger that allows you to manage your bookmarks for multiple browsers, tags, and folders.

Some of the feature of the app include:

- Tag your bookmarks with an interface that allows you to easily add new tags and suggest existing ones.

- Organise your bookmarks in folders. Folders can have as many sub-folders as you need to organise your bookmarks.

- Pin your bookmarks, tags or folders.

- Remove common trackers from URLs with one click when adding / editing a bookmark.

- Add notes to your bookmarks.

- Import / Export bookmarks as JSON or HTML. When the optional fields added date, tags, or notes are available in either import format, Buchen will use those too.

- Shortcuts for adding bookmarks or searching bookmarks.

- An “Add Bookmark” action for the Share Sheet. This allows you to add bookmarks directly from Safari and other apps.

- A variety of keyboard shortcuts for iPad users.

- Create QR Codes in a variety of colours for your bookmarks. You can view or share the QR Code from the bookmark detail view or with a left swipe / long-press on a bookmark.

- Choose between different bookmark styles. You can choose different styles in the Bookmarks and Tags sections.

- When you choose a bookmark style that shows its tags, you can navigate to that tag from any bookmark.

- Choose from multiple colors to style the app and widgets.

- Select which browser will open your bookmark. Note: Browsers other than Safari are only an option if they’re installed on the device. Read the help for the list of compatible browsers.

- Lock Buchen with Face ID / Touch ID / Passcode. Either fully lock it down or enjoy some convenience and allow widgets and shortcuts to show your data.

- Search your bookmarks against their name, URL, notes, browser, tags or even creation date (YY-MM-DD format).

Buchen also comes with Widgets in all 4 sizes. Medium, Large and Extra Large widgets let you open links from the Widget.

Add lock screen widgets for easy access to bookmarks, tags, and folders.

Importing bookmarks can use the Buchen JSON format, Firefox JSON backup files or standard bookmark HTML files.

Exporting bookmarks can use the Buchen JSON format or the standard bookmark HTML format.

Notes from HTML imports require using the Delicious / Pinboard HTML format.

Version History - Search now has a token based approach which should make it easier to find data without exact wording.

- Fixed bug on add / edit screens where it searching for a parent folder or bookmark may stop providing results. 2026.03 Sep 15 - Add Duplicate swipe action on bookmarks. This will allow you to create a new bookmark using everything from the existing bookmark except for the Name and URL.

- Optimize metadata caching performance.

- Importing aims to remove duplicates.
1. Imports with the Buchen JSON format will check on id, falling back to URL matching.
2. Other import formats will match on URL.
3. When imports update existing bookmarks they do not reset the 'last visited' or visit count total

- You can now manage duplicate bookmarks under Settings -> Delete.
1. Bookmarks are grouped by duplicate URL
2. You can manually edit entries or choose to bulk delete all duplicates, saving either the oldest or newest duplicate bookmarks

- Smarter duplicate detection that excludes tracking parameters when comparing.

- URLs are copied to the clipboard as URLs now so 'Paste and Go' option will show when pasting from Buchen into browsers.

- Fixed bug where swipe to delete on the tag or folder list could cause a crash.

- The app can now display in landscape on iOS.

- 'Find Bookmark' shortcut action can search notes now

- Support all widget sizes where they can be supported.

- Added 'Sync Status' to Settings.

- Fixed missing German localizations 2026.02 Sep 12 - Add / Edit bookmark has a new option for removing common trackers.

- The options to get the bookmark's name from the URL, prepending HTTPs to a URL and removing trackers is now in the navigation menu.

- Improvements for the share sheet extension for getting the name of the web page.

- macOS: removed browser section from Add / Edit Bookmark views. Currently multiple browser support is not supported on on macOS. 2026.01 May 25 - The QR Code image on the bookmark detail view is now draggable to other apps.

- Deleting a tag or folder has two options now. You can just delete the tag / folder or delete it along with all of its contents. When deleting a folder and not it's contents, everything is move to the parent folder.

- On the initial Folder listing, searching for folders will now search all folders rather than filtering the list of root folders.

- Added a share option for tags and folders. This will provide all the bookmarks in the tag / folder.

- Tag / Folder listings now use lists instead of a grid.

- Tag / Folder listings have swipe actions for pinning, editing and deleting.

- The add / edit bookmark views make better use of space.

- There is now a macOS specific version of the app. Note: If you used the 'Designed for iPad' version. You may need to uninstall that first.

- Bug Fixes. 2025.05 Mar 29 - You can pick any color for the app's tint color. See Settings -> General Settings.
The old preset colors can still be selected and your existing color choice will still be used until you choose to change it.

- You can now pin bookmarks, tags and folders. Exports and imports in the Buchen JSON format support pinned items.

- Keyboard shortcuts for the new pin actions. 2025.04 10/08/2025 - The tab bar can now be displayed as a sidebar and customized on platforms that support these features

- Bookmark metadata cache will now refresh at a configured interval. See Settings -> General Settings to configure the cache refresh interval

- Scrolling lists will minimize the tab bar on platforms that support this feature

- New default icon that will adapt well to light, dark, clear and tinted customizations

- Widgets support clear and tinted views

- There is now one 'Rich Link' style that can display the bookmark image or favicon. It also provides access to the folder, tags and notes.

- Bookmarks can now have their URL copied as URL, HTML and Markdown. This feature is in the Detail, Folder and Tag views.

- When selecting a 'copy' command on a Tag or Folder view, it will copy all the bookmarks as URL, HTML or Markdown

- Tapping the primary menu items (bookmarks, tags, folders and settings) has some improvements:

- Tapping the menu button can scroll to the top when you're on the initial view for that section

- New 'App Accent color' choices

- The option to toggle Markdown display in notes.
Currently, a small subset of Markdown is supported. If this proves useful and popular, this may get expanded soon.

- Long-press menus added to tags and folders

- Most of the Help documentation has been replaced by a support page on the app's site. This link is easily found in Settings where the help used to be.

- Various bug fixes.
Many of these bug fixes should fix some remaining crashes that could occur during imports. 2023.01 04/13/2023 - Swipe to delete no longer shows an alert. It just deletes the bookmark
